Company Description

On permanent display are topics such as the versatility of wood, the nature of tool collecting, and how our use of wood has changed with time. Odds and Sods is an eclectic mix of objects that investigates the diverse ways wood was used in the past – from ice skates and sugar moulds to spoons and horse shoes. This interesting exhibit reminds the visitor of a time when wood was the most common building material.
Local Trees tells the changing story of wood use and reflects the societal change following mass production and standardization. The visitor is introduced to a number of tree species that once were typical in a woodworker’s shop but are now all but unknown.
Ivor Blower – Inside the mind of a Collector explores the motivations behind people who collect. We all do it, but what does it say about us? Why do we do it? Through recorded memoirs, activities and 300 hand planes from Blower’s personal collection we discover the motivations behind collecting patterns.
